Greetings to all current and former residents of Ocho Rios. The Ocho Rios Home Coming Group has been launched via Facebook in the month of March. Since its launching date the group has grown to over 2,000 members in its first month. The group is averaging a growing rate of 500 members per week. This is indeed very remarkable, which shows the effective response and appreciation of the people for a group of this magnitude.
To date it as proven to be an electrifying group as a result of the daily interaction and feed back from its members. As the current administrator of the group I have gotten so very remarkable compliments from various members for launching a well needed and long overdue group with a positive mission and common objectives.
The intended mission is to reconnect and reunite all the present residents and all the former residents that have migrated to various places within the Island and countries all over the world. The governing body which we're currently in the process of electing will be responsible for planning and orchestrating an annual convention. This Convention will allow members to attend and share in literal reunification exercises, fun and laughter while being entertained in a culturally entertaining atmosphere in the town of Ocho Rios. At the offset of this convention there will be an established 'Community Development Project Committee' that will be responsible to organize projects that members of the group can be engaged in to impact both the people of Ocho Rios and surrounding communities in different sectors and areas, such as the Schools, Hospital & Clinic, Recreational Park, Town Square and a lot more including interests in the surrounding communities as well.
Currently the members are already having a ball (fun) making virtual re-connections and bonding with old and lost families, friends, playmates, schoolmates, workmates, church-mates and other social groups that they were engaged in before becoming separated.
This is an outreach also to all visitors and lovers of Ocho Rios and Jamaica at large. We look forward to all for support in order to enable and energize this vision.
